You stand so tall
in the center of it all
an image of worship
a symbol of piety
kneeling towards you
with sadness-bound eyes
unable to see past you
cradling redemption like punishment
yearning absolution like food
sustenance from your hollow words
a soul unworthy of you
an incandescent life
bound by your somber ideals
