One night,

I left for home. My drive too quick, my home too close.
I wanted a nice snack, a warm bed and quick nap.
I wanted one night for myself to relax.

But that's not what the world had in mind.
The man sped down the road, racing past a stop sign, the red light already blinking.
I turned onto the road, the man swerved through cars and rigs.
We crashed in 3.0 seconds.
Blood was trickling, was it mine or his?
I opened my eyes one last time, I was ready to quit.
I breathed again, my lungs filling with blood too quick.
I closed my eyes,
Time was flying by,
I said goodbye.
