I dreamt of closeness and truth
where trust and companionship intertwined
never one without the other

I dreamt of passion and desire
a burning fire pit in my stomach
the flames; they lick and scorch

i dreamt of tender love
with one who will take all of me;
glass shards, angry words, and prying fingers

i dreamt of death and suffering
drowning in my anger and despair
to end the life i did not ask for

I dreamt of everything real
whether that be misery
or ecstasy

today, i woke up.
