I don't wanna miss the handshake to change my life.
I don't want to miss the smile that will change my mind
I don't wanna miss the clues on the map to the treasure chest
I don't want to forget how near and dear silence is
At the movies
Silence your phones, mouth, and all movement
Silence the noise
With my kids
Whose silence creates a mountain of fun
On their end
With a teen
When silence speaks mountains
I don't want to wonder what mountains are forming.
What storm is growing
Inside my teens mind
I don't want to miss the world of unspoken communication
To wonder
What you see do u understand
A look , a tone, a gesture of the hand
A look in their eyes
What is there
Happiness, anger, loneliness, despair
Is this even understanding or just perception
Is this listening to perfection
What is that?
Can you hear the sound not made with words
Tense shoulders, head lowered
Observed silence
Is this intention or intentional emotional sequestration
And yes it is a question
Because I just can't miss the world of unspoken communication.
