Nov 2017
years and years on the merry-go-round of pain
and turn we go
and turn we go
still stuck on the same old ride
and turn we go
and turn we go
how long until we get off, mom?
i don’t know, she says
i don’t know.
so turn we go
on this merry-go-round of pain
and desperation
and turn we go
spinning until we’re sick
of these frustrations
so turn we go
i put my foot on the spinning
unforgiving ground
and so turn we go
i’m realizing the
paralyzing reality
that to stop
i need to jump.
so turn i go
watching the world,
preparing for the leap,
echoes in my head,
“i don’t know,”
so sweet
turn we go
turn we go
turn we go together
i say,
let’s hop off, you and i
but you’re hanging on so tight
knuckles white
let’s jump off together, mom, i urge
this merry-go-round is a trying ride
a trying ride
i won’t leave without you, mom
come with me, come with me
she looks me in the eye
i’ll meet you in the sky, she says
you and i
you and i
