I Wish I Wore White

I wish I wore white

Said the maiden in red

As the children in bed

Wished for more light

As a tear fell down my cheek

And landed on your spine

You caught it with your lips

As they softy moved in time:

"My love, my only wish tonight,

Is that you love yourself so that

You may love me

As I love you."

And all the while

This stained heart

Wishes still

That it wore white.
