It May Be Today
It may be today
That day that hardly anyone knows
even those with high degrees
from academies
Unless they have been tried
and lost their last appeal
unless their fate
has been sealed
Unless they have a date to fry
a date to fly up in the sky
a day to die
determined from on high
But I am not on death row
so I am not in the know
for me there is
uncertainty
Could be when I next take the wheel
and drive around a bend
blinded to the truth
that my lifeβs about to end
It could be in my hall
if I trip and fall and bump my head
I could be dead
then be reborn with no warning
