She lays at night,
her breath quivers,
fighting back tears.
She wonders,
is he, her's or,
is his heart with another,
her stomach twists,
at the what if's.
Closing her eyes,
she replays that night.
Liquor laced words,
slipped out his lips,
as his eyes filled with tears,
and silent hope filled her,
broken heart.
She thought just maybe,
things would go right.
Until sober words brings her back.
She fights to hold on,
but how long would
like be enough?
