Crumbling walls
We thought the storm
would clear the air
But the atmosphere
is thick with smoke
I'm going to choke
We imagined the rain
would wash away
the sins of the past
Make us clean
And I want to scream
Because as soon as you
walked into the room
Lightning struck
What will it take
to bring back the sun
and a brave new moon?
Now there are cracks
in the foundations
Crumbling walls
Fissures in floors
Much like my life
