Here are my keys
Please take them
I think I’m going to need you
To hold me and
Get me back home
When I’m broken down.
I came here so you could help me
I needed a friend to help me through
I didn’t want to come here
But I didn’t know who else to turn to.
I’m not the kind to drown my sorrows
I’ll surely hate myself tomorrow
Oh well, you know tonight
I’m the designated drinker.
I need to get somewhere
Where I can’t think of her.
Thank you my friend,
Thank you for understanding
Thank you for the whiskey
Thank you for helping me stand.
You know I’d do the same for you.
When you can’t stand yourself.
So while I try and drink myself free
From the woman who twisted me
Round her little finger
I’ll have another whiskey
Why this feeling decides to linger.
