Is there a future for us
Or is this just a futile mess
Shall we see tomorrow
Will our love survive the bitter night

You are so close, yet so far
So near, yet so distant
A love doomed by nature perhaps
Ruined by time and disbelief

The thin line divides us
Far from love towards destruction and hate
Blinding us to see the simple fact
That what joins us is greater than what seeks to dim our flame

There was a day we seemed so perfect
We were destined for eternity
Now we walk on eggshells
Doubtful of our fate
Fearful of what the day shall bring

Change is upon us
Half a heart no longer believes
The other is found wanting
Maybe love has dried up
All hope extinguished by doubts

The enemy who defeated was the mind
It reasoned love out of our story
Made it out to be about flesh and lies
Ignoring the simple and sure truth
That love was, and could have been.
