I’m running about day and night
Grasping at ghosts in the shadow show

There's no light on the wall where they appear
So the heart skips a beat with fear

There's no one to see, nowhere to go
There's no one to be, there's nobody home

In the ephemeral world of boys and girls
dancing and prancing with banners unfurled

Fiesta of folly, increasing crescendo
A pretension of jolly until the end
