The men in her life go their own way First it was her Daddy Then soon her brother too I wonder if she will always have to say goodbye
She never loses her love for us She forgives and insists we’re a family Neither of us are as strong as she can be She smiles knowing tomorrow is the day to cry
I wonder if she’ll ever feel at home with a man She learned about men early in her life They make her happy But it only lasts as long as the last piece of pie
She runs to me with grace running through her veins I’ve never been able to leave yesterday behind Yet she can always open a new day of sunshine She just loves me and I never have to ask why
She lives her life of dolls and being Daddy’s girl She plays mom to her brother but loves him just the same One day he’ll miss her and remember these days Until then she’ll hug us while tomorrow closes it’s misty eyes
