Cold sweat, trembling hands,
mind at a loss.
Body craving sleep,
breaths diving deep;
this is the dawning of exhaustion.

Reactions lag as
consciousness crumbles;
all stimuli are delayed.
My pulse is slow and heavy
as blood surges through webs of veins.

My hasty heart wreaks havoc
in the confines of my rib cage.
