The darkness grips my shoulders
The silence claws at my skin
What am I to do with such a broken soul?
Broken not once but many times
By the people I thought would care
But in truth we are simply alone
No one feels like me
No one feels love the way I do
No one knows the darkness that suffocates me
And in turn I don't know you
Your smile is warm but you're breaking inside
You're trying to hide the scars on your soul
But even then those scars bleed through I can see
And your laughter feels hollow as well
Tell me, do you want to know...
Do you want to know what the light feels like?
Do want to dance in the sun?
Do you want to feel the smoothness
Of the sand between your toes?
Tell me, do you wish sometimes....
Do you wish that you could be happy?
Do you wish that you had friends?
Do you wish you had a lover
Who so easily could mend?
They could mend the gashes in your heart
The slashes left by those that you loved
They could heal you bit by bit
But only if you try
Only if you leave behind
The darkness that you love so much
Only if you leave behind
Those hopeless wants you clutch
So leave it all
Leave it all behind
And open your eyes
To a brand new day
