The space of a breath

Inhale. Interlock

legs toes eyes tongues

curl

arms hair lips necks.

Beat beat.

Beat beat, beat beat.

Quickening, stiffening,

plunging, confessing

; gasp ;

am nothing

but a milky white shape

as I lay myself down

in the dark.

Exhale.
