Beaten with stripes of a sinner, bruised as a reed beneath the heel of oppression. Crowned with mocking thorns, hanged on a tree for our sins. Unjustly persecuted and reviled, the lord gave up all. On the cross he surrendered to his affliction, abandoned even by the father above. By his affliction we find redemption in Christ undying love.
