Library Poem
I drove slowly
And I saw the woman
Exchange friendly words
With the mailman
I saw a family and their children
Walking along
I saw the blind man walking
Up the street
I was reminded of
The lyrics of "Amazing Grace"
It's hard
These days
For suburban Americans
In some ways
I have very little contact
With other people
I'm at the library again.
I saw the same man
Two days in a row
At the gas station
And driving in his car
I saw my brand of car cover today
I saw tall men today
Looked like mountain men
With beards
I saw the sun set
But I didn't look into eyes
That loved and cherished me
I just prayed
I saw a car whip around
Passing a car
In the opposing lane
Dangerous driving
Could have been the end
For that person
Slowly Slowly
Do things slowly
Keep your eyes
Wide open all the time
Hello to all the dreamers
Out there
I wish I could spend time
With you
I wish I wasn't separated
From you
By physical distance
Hello from The library
