Store Bought Friends
I've always heard it said money don't make the man,
But if that's true why does everyone think it can?
I don't understand the driving force behind greed,
I don't understand wanting for than you need.
But I sure understand pain well enough,
I sure understand when life gets too tough.
I know how hard it is to tell yourself it's ok,
I know how hard it is to face a sad new day.
I know despair when you're running out of time.
But I do BELIEVE with faith it'll be just fine.
Cause I know that money can't buy you happiness,
I know possessions can't fight the loneliness,
I know that power can't make you powerful
And store bought friends don't cry at your funeral.
I know I don't have much but I earned all I got.
I have friends and family to be there on the spot.
A warm place to sleep safe but not alone,
And an amazing woman that I can call my own.
I've found peace inside my soul,
Because it's love – NOT MONEY- that makes a person whole…
Don't waste your life with gold blinding your eyes,
You must remember you gotta live while you're alive…
