we got lost in the azure;

strayed too far from the concrete jungle,
wrecked by the inability to spread those wings,
clipped behind our backs.

we got lost in the azure;

lost in the in between,
the spaces between paragraphs, they call,
like sirens to the sea.

time misspent, misused.
love misdirected, misplaced.
cracked hearts. cracked skin. cracked bones.

we got lost in the azure;

this world isn’t meant to be,
ours - and the stars embedded in a blanket of darkness,
they beckon.

and perhaps, one day, we’ll follow.
