Tonight I write by candle light

Choking on carbon monoxide

Just to say

I am sorry

I ripped your heart out

with my teeth I gnawed

Played with you like a kitten

with hidden cougar claws

I’ll leave this note on your kitchen fridge

In the room I know so well

This echoes william carlos williams

I am an artist of plagiarism

I am a cheap con

and maybe you were right about me

Maybe I’m in the wrong

But tonight I write by candlelight

Fourteen hundred miles away

with a heavy heart I’m sorry

“This is just to say,”

I’m sorry I stole your peaches

They were, indeed, so sweet

If you want I’ll pay you back

Just please don’t wallow in defeat

I hope this letter finds you well

I’m sorry
