Creatures lurk and slink
the mists allow movement unseen
finding a spot to wait
to ambush and to seal there fate

Billowing clouds glow
as they seep out of the black water
the temperature begins to drop
hairs on the back of my neck raise

Footsteps head this direction
in the leaf litter and mud
and then stop
the silence is complete

The view turns to black
and my senses heighten
as the moonless night
and fear engulf the swamp
