85th street bridge

unbeknownst to passers-by

above on concrete, stone and steel

two lovers linger just below

hearts on fire, bodies still

while river's waters deep and fast

lay witness to the passion there

this place becomes forever cast

immortalized with souls laid bare

no traffic sounds, no waterfowl

no whispering wind through tender trees

disturb these two, in love's embrace

finding forever in their gaze
