Jump ropes and butterfly nets
it's about as good as it gets
when you are a country child
alive in summer and running wild

Afternoon sun and swimming pools
Coca cola shades, man I'm cool
flirting with the girl down the street
like ice cream she is a treat

Bicycle riding all over the place
dreams of girls lingerie laced
imaginations sometimes shared
occasionally a soul was bared

More times though a glove and ball
or climbing on top of the horse stall
a rod and reel, or maybe a kite
never came home till time for a bite

It was a different time a different age
life was written on a paper page
no cell phones, no computer screens
life was simple, if you know what I mean
