You're so far away
and I feel your breath
dance on the hairs on my neck
I just imagine a different life
I can't look past
I can't see beyond
the shadow that's grown
between me and the sun

My mind wanders
in every waking moment
to the things that it finds
on its own when I sleep
I'm lost in a different place
that this place will never be

Uncomfortably numb with everything
so unbiased, to either side of reality
Night and day fade into constant grey
with neither death or life
nor darkness or light
to draw my indifferent gaze
