My time on Earth was short and brief,
My parting caused my loved ones grief,
My mortal shell has passed and gone,
Though my immortal soul, shall journey on.

Though years may pass, the memories stay,
I miss my family more each day,
I know how much you loved me dear,
And though unseen, I’m always here.

Those magic faces, with fromage frais,
And cheeky smiles for mummy, Rae,
To my younger brothers sadly unseen,
I would have been, of course, your queen.

And Dad, just think of all those rows,
Cos I’d prefer the low cut blouse!
But I know I’ll always be your baby,
For I am surely three times a lady.

You see today through teary eye,
Sadness wells, I know not why,
My life on Earth was not so sad,
So think of me in moments glad.

My funeral day was all remorse,
A mournful day, I know of course,
But life was bright, always jolly,
So think of happiness, not melancholy.

No days went by without my smile,
So think of me and pause a while,
Don’t think of me when sadness looms,
But smile for me when laughter booms.

To you today I leave this phrase,
My time on Earth you can’t erase,
My time on Earth was done you see,
So raise those smiles, no tears for me.

This poem was a gift donated to a family looking for a way to celebrate the life of a child tragically taken much too soon.  I include it here, as I think it important to remember that no matter how bad our own lives seem at times, there are always people that are suffering more.
