We all need that somebody
someone we can hold and love
someone who we can lean on
to comfort the scars of pain
when everything else is gone
and nothing but tears fall

We all need a friend
that will be that shining light
through the times of darkness
who will make the sun shine bright
even through the rain

We all need the touch of another's hand
that will take away the loneliness
when we feel no one else is there
and sorrow seems to be the end

We all need the words to hear
to know somebody will care
when we feel in this world alone
to know someone will understand
when we're backed against a wall

We all need that one kind
who will look inside and see
when a heart has turned to stone
to let them know it will be alright
that even through clouds that linger
the stars still come out at night

We all need that piece of mind
to know hard times don't last forever
and there's more to what we have here
if we just reach inside to find
that Heaven don't only shine above
but is held in us from deep within
if we just grasp ahold of it again
