My Kind
I suppose it was
an act of mercy.
"Put him
with the other Earthlings!"
Dragged
down strip-lit corridors
a million miles
from home.
At last
they cast me
in a gloomy cell
with a woodlouse,
a guava
and a chanterelle mushroom.
I appreciated the thought,
but we had little in common
and an awkward silence reigned.
