What's the point
Of romance
Of affection
Of love

A simple kiss
A loving embrace
Fingers intertwined

I don't understand
The logic of it all
How one simple thing
Can affect all your life

I wasn't prepared
To love again
I wasn't prepared
To give my heart away

And you stayed
You waited for me to heal
You were my shield
As my emotions bled

You tell me you love me
You tell me you care
I was afraid
You'd just leave me
When I told you my past

Yet
You stayed
You must be an angel
To put up with me

You tell me
You want me
You need me
And I believe you

I know from your smile
I know from your kiss
The late night chats
And long, long hugs
I know from the teasing
I know from holding hands

And I didn't think it was possible
To feel love again
But
It is
And I do
I really love you

I hope you know
From my kiss
My touch
My smile
My laugh

I need you
Like you need me
Maybe even more
And it keeps growing
These feelings for you
The love and affection

You're one of my best friends
Have been since the 4th grade
Caring for me
Even when I was cold and dead inside

You say
You stuck around
Because you saw
That I still had life
That I wasn't who I pretended to be
That I was the girl
You once knew

You must really care
If you were willing to take a beating
Just to make sure I was okay
I'm glad you didn't
I would have blamed myself

You say you will protect me
When Seth comes around
Guard me
Against all his evil
His mind games

After that video
That he sent out
It was clear to see
How much I mean to you

It's clear to me
After all these years
That you've loved me
Through all the hurt
The tears
Through it all
You've cared

You let me have my space
When I was broken down
Helpless
You didn't take advantage
Of my vulnerability
Instead
You held me in your arms

You mean so much more to me
Than words can explain
It amazes me every day
How close the thing I wanted most was
And I didn't see it until now

I didn't clearly see
How much you mean to me
