Words are like scales
And armour to our heart
Yet words so easily tainted
Can tear us apart

But many wear them as protection
Unaware of their fragility
A simply slip of consciousness
Consequences of drastic ability

No words can keep a secret
Others can create a mask
We all try to hide our pain
There is really no point to ask

Words can provide a meaning
They can also prove a lie
But most of all they can tell the truth
Even if one doesn’t comply

For words have more than one meaning
Symbolic and ever so freed
It is the emotion and tone of the person
That makes them easy to read

However, these words neither spoken
We all know them to be true
And it is this understanding
That I present onto you
