I remember when I learned to fly
My wobbly legs standing out on that branch
Flapping wings that had never held wind before
I took a deep breath and leaped
Wings spread but too weak still
I tumbled and I tumbled and tumbled some more
My heart pounding and wings flapping uselessly
Falling in what seemed like an endless descent
Then suddenly I awoke on my bedroom floor
