Tonight I feel like I've traced my steps
back to a canyon
carved into my heart
that I had fully forgotten.

The ridges are still there, though,
still pronounced.

To my surprise
I slide down its steep edge,
fall into the narrow thing,
almost willingly.

I can see the marks
from the 7-year pain,
I can scream and yell
for help and for ******* off,
and I can hear the echoes
from its deepest spots.

I can also feel the more recent holes,
resting roughly over top.

These new ones are shallow
but still more painful,
so I scream louder
because I don’t know how you don’t care.

I’m ******* trapped down here,
don’t you miss me?

I slid down the sides again
without a way back up.
