He swore every monster away,
Checked every closet and bed,
He told me he'd hold this world up,
Never letting it fall,
But I don't see him now;

He held his head high,
Expected better things,
He told me the stories,
That haunt him daily,
But I don't see him now;

He held my hand,
In his rough callused hands,
He walked beside me,
Stride by stride,
But  I don't see him now;

He took me places,
I dreamed about,
He played make-believe,
With a fool like me,
But I don't see him now;

Where is he,
When will be return,
When will my heart be full,
Like it once was,
But although I search,
I don't see him now.
