My sanctuary,
My second home,
My lair, is
my basement.

It's where I do my homework,
Where I social network,
Where I hang out with my friends,
Where I listen to music.

I went into my basement when I had my first heartache,
With my face in my hands blinking back tears.
I turned on one of my favourite songs,
And collapsed on the bed crying.

I sit in my basement when I want an escape,
Whether it's playing video games,
Instant messaging friends,
Or crying as I sink into my favourite song.

A basement, I guess,
Is really only an underground room or two,
But to me,
It has become so much more.
