i guess you can only become
a poet after having read
the brothers karamazov,
bolesław prus’ lalka, don quixote,
the critique of pure reason
kierkegaards’s either / or,
russell’s the history of western philosophy...
i can’t think of any other way...
otherwise you’ll be in the itchy fingers
pile of ‘she said, with expressionless mutation
how good it was to burn the bridges of madison county
and start a cannibalistic ***** colony.’
(wait a minute darwin, why aren’t any eskimos blonde?
it’s north enough for them to be bleached scandinavian.)
