I listen to the daylight
I hear its promise
And it's warmth.
I feel my sense of sight,
Softened from its usual callous,
Showing me beauty
Instead of things
I may fear in the night.

I hear the daylight singing
A song only I can see.
I feel it's breath on my back
As it sings it's mournful melody.
All alone I bask in this daylight's
Momentary glory.
I am warm and unafraid.
Wooed by the light.

These pangs I feel
Melt into the sight and sound.
I am hypnotized
By the setting sun.
I am, for now -just for now-
Fine.
And I fall fast asleep
Listening to the daylight.
