Don’t squeeze me so tightly
I can’t breathe
I’ll come out hissing and scratching
So ready to leave
Backed in a corner is not for me
Don’t squeeze me so tightly
I’ll leave

Don’t squeeze me so tightly
You got to let me run
I’m not the kind of woman
You can hold under your thumb

You’ve got to let me down to play awhile
I might run fast but I won’t go far
I’ll always come back to you
Right where you are

Don’t squeeze me so tightly
That I can’t breathe
I’ll come out hissing and scratching
You got to let me be me

If you will just hold me gently
You’ll still have the lead
But don’t squeeze me so tightly
I’ll leave
