He confided in me
and when he was done he said,
"you must think I'm pretty low."
And suddenly I realized that
I didn't think any less of him.
That it would take so much more,
maybe nothing, could make me
stop idolizing this part of my life.
Because that's what he was.
Or is.
But I didn't say any of that.
I just told him I didn't mind,
because I'm scared of ghosts.
