Laying in bed now on his own it felt wrong
when an unused mobile suddenly rang!
Half asleep answered the vibrating phone
the voice made him sit up alert
Listening in disbelief it was his wife
but he knew she'd lost her life.

Intently absorbing every single word
somehow amazing yet chilling.
He could not believe it was a real event
thinking it was just a dream.
As the voice spoke softly in his ear
he felt sure she was near.

Trying to reply there was only static
he knew the battery was flat!
Elation quickly turned to numb reality
it was his wife's own mobile!
The next day going to work in a daze
was this part of the grieving phase?

Those words spoken now haunted his life
saying she missed him very much.
And was watching from a far better place
no more was said that night.
Yet he knew she was close by his side
knowing her spirit had not died!

One day they would be together again!
