I stopped by today to sing a song,
With a friend I know all day long,
Just to sit and enjoy the melodies,
As we sang such sweet harmony.

Came by cause I had you on my mind,
Wanted to see you and to share a rhyme,
Hold you hand and tell you in the now,
How you lift my spirit so high and how.

Brought my guitar so beautiful and new,
Wanted to show you songs that made me blue,
Needed to share some others that made us shy,
We smiled and laughed and tried not to cry.

Sitting on your front porch is so very  fine,
You look so special, so delightful and divine,
I felt  the breeze blow over both you and me,
The sun is rising high so slowly and easily.

I stopped by today because you make me smile,
Coming over will lift me through the weary miles,
I held you close as we have always tried to do,
There's no other so sweet and it's only you.
