One day my family and I got a letter
I’ve been in here since that gloomy afternoon
Day after day I’ll tell myself I’ll get better
I tell everyone I’m coming home soon

I look at the pictures beside me
And the cards and the flowers people gave me
I’ll make it out for them; they’ll see
Just promise me you’ll be brave for me

It might look like I’m fading away, but I’m just taking a breath
Before I blow this thing away
I’ll give it as much as it takes
I’ll get out of here some day
Soon I will be on my way
I’ll be home by May
I’m coming home today
