There's a charm in the world
that nary anyone sees
a little hard to glimpse, but not too hard
it needs you to pause, and take a step back
let the colors seep in, let the flavors breathe
and there upon the branch, when the sparrow cheeps
and you feel a tiny tap, on your shoulder, from a falling leaf
you may just hear, the whispers of the wind

There's a sadness in the world
that we much dwell upon
Sickness is run amok, among the denizens of our well
Green of our trees, falls prey to the green of our wallets
Countless heads must roll, at morality's feet
Yet in between all the havoc, we find a reason to smile
A child's fun and glee, an animal's unhindered love
A well turned phrase, a lover's magical spell
And we learn to live on, not of compulsion but of pure will
I don't know where this came from. Ah, well.
