Oh, how I am undone
by your false and lying heart.
I pledged you my love
for all eternity.
bound every fiber in my heart
in my soul
to a pledge of eternal love
till the sun would burn its self
to a cinder, and the stars
would burn and flicker out
one by one.
But oh, you gave me not a care
and answered me with
the cold and dark in your heart.
Oh, the chill I feel
from the wind
that blows across
the ice
and the cold and dark
that lives in your heart.
So cold to put the eternal fires
into eternal cold, and eternal dark.
Oh, let the sun not rise
upon my poor and tortured heart.
Oh, all the world is dead
and died long ago
and worms crawl
in my rotting, and dead heart
sent to its eternal death
by the cold and dark that lives
in your heart,
and I in my grave
shall remain
to hide my soul
from the cold and dark
that forever in your icy heart.
