In each new wave of life you followed me to shore
Finding ways to crack open my heart, just leaving sores

With each new wave I fought to swim away
But with the tide you dragged me astray

Giving me grief, misleading me with your eyes
I never really felt I had anywhere to hide

Each time you come around you feed me a lie
I'm so tired now, I can't even cry

Just let me go.
It is time to give this up, as you already know

Let me have some relief
Quit following me, and my drowning will be brief
