a sadness that overwhelms
    consumes
    engulfs you
       with intense suffocation
breath that emerges
in broken gasps
followed by a rainfall
      of unceasing tears
sleepless nights
eat-less days
   bleary eyed bewilderment
head squeezed vice like
with melancholy thoughts of what was
                  and of what can no longer be
