Well.

Sometimes you push it all away ; until she pushes back.
When a woman wants a man ; I never thought she'd push like that.
Just a drink away from death ; cigar stains on my lungs.
Inches from a gun ; all I needed was another black cat.
Walking to the beat of the night ; dark lady, could you be my light?
No one by her side ; asking who am I?
That's the question ; I've been asking all my life.

Well.

You push that hard, and I'll reply ; I'm the darkest thought, the one that asks why.
I'm the cold life lost ;
the one that don't die ;
and if you push into my heart, you just might cry.

Well.

She didn't say nothin, just looked me up and down ; I could tell by that stare, I could live in her town.
I've been a lot of places, done a lot of hurt ; never found a woman that could make it work.
Diggin graves was easy, my heart was one ; but these old bones need more than dirt.
And a man who loses his shirt ; needs more than a girl in a skirt.

I pushed real hard, I've even pushed through;
But, woman, I wouldn't push you.
Because this woman at my side...Well
She can push too.
