Is this the world I used to watch?
The world for which I gave my wings,
This place of thieves and murderers,
That once was full of precious things,

Is this the creature I’ve become?
The creature that I used to guard,
This species so far from my own,
That has no artist, muse, or bard,

Is this the land I used to roam?
The land for which I took an oath,
This place of hatred and disease,
That once was sacred to us both,

Is this the future that I sought?
The future that denied me youth,
This march of ever shorter days,
That takes me further from the truth.
