Let Me In
From happy to sad
In the blink of an eye
You make me smile
Then want to cry
Constantly shifting
Like ground made of sand
Never quite certain
Don’t know where I stand
Should I stay or just leave
And walk out the door
I think that you want me
But I can’t tell for sure
You’ve been hurt before
Yeah, well guess what? Me too!
But you’re not the guy he was
And I didn’t do those things to you
I want to get to know you
But you won’t let me in
I know trusting can’t be easy
After where you’ve been
But I promise not to hurt you
If you’ll give me a try
That I always will be honest
And not deceive you with a lie
So open up that door a crack
Just enough to let me in
And no matter what else happens
I’ll always be your friend
