The Piano Man
Scott Skyler May 2016
Up and down the keys he plays,
And the crowd he does amaze,
And never once has he stopped,
Take a drink or take a walk.

On and on his sad song goes,
And when he began no one knows,
And no one could say when he will stop,
But on and on it goes.

His song that he plays,
Can be heard in the sky,
By his lost daughter,
Who’s said her goodbye.

Every now and then,
I go and listen,
To his sad song,
And his sad tune.

And I know in heaven,
His daughter listens,
Looking down,
With a heartbroken smile.

The Shadow
Scott Skyler May 2016
I am a shadow,
Nothing more,
And nothing less.

I follow my host like a slave,
Where he goes I go,
And what he does I mimic.

I am a shadow,
And I must obey,
No matter what I think.

My host is like a parasite,
Controlling my every move,
And I am helpless for I am just a shadow.

I will never live to the fullest,
I will never be what I want to be,
And I will never be free,

For I am just a shadow.
When my mind wanders....

The Lost Boy
Scott Skyler May 2016
Thrown into a whole new world,
The boy felt isolated and lost,
Everyone was like him but yet different,
He could try to communicate,
But no one would hear his plea.

Day after day, night after night,
The boy would stare at the world,
The world the boy loved. The world he longed for,
But the world was not as kind,
The world rejected, and loathed him.

Like a kite flying aimlessly in the sky,
Like a sailboat with no wind,
Like a bird with clipped wings,
The boy could not escape, could not be free.

In the end was it worth it,
Was  it worth all your trouble,
Was it worth all the pain,
In the end was it worth it.

Was it worth all the joy,
All the smiles and laughter,
Was it worth all the memories you made,
In the end was it worth it.

Was it really worth giving your life,
Was it really worth leaving us all,
Was it really worth losing it all,
In the end was it worth it.

So tell me my friend,
Was it worth it in the end,
All the joy and memories,
All the sorrow and pain.

Was it worth it?
Was it worth it?
