STEP 1: Once it is all over,
And you are crushing your ribcage,
Hearing your brittle bones crack under the pressure,
As you try to nurse your battered, palpitating heart,
Remember.
Remember why you mustered up the courage,
To acknowledge the gentle, seductive voice
Beckoning your chest to open up,
Exposing your vulnerable insides,
Giving the wicked beast,
The chance to crush your heart once more.

STEP 2: Now run as fast as you can,
Before she can see you cry.
Ignore the burning sensation
Slithering up your flaming legs.
Dismiss your suffocating heart,
Begging you to release it
From your chest's tight grasp.

*STEP 3: Keep running.

To sit and spin
Our blood within.
Must travel & turn'th
For oxygen it yern'th.

So too the earth doth spin
Similarly warmed from within
It rotates around a point of union.
The generation of Helium from Hydrogen.

The sun releases its emission of light and heat
The catalyst that allowed your heart to beat.
So too the planets worship the star
Forever in view but yet too far

Although it can create
It can destroy without debate.
It shall burn until its fit to burst
And explode to what it was once first.

Stardust.

I see it everywhere
It's in your eyes and in your hair
That special way that you sit and stare.
Oh, to be part of a perfect pair.

Only such beauty could be formed from a shining star.
If only you were not so far.
This started out as a poem about another topic entirely but ended up being the subject of an obvious infatuation i appear to still have.

Waking up in a panic,
Heart racing,
Sweat dripping,
Head pounding,

Sleep is not an option,

Counting sheep,
Staring at the clock,
Looking at the ceiling,
Rolling back and forth.

Even if it is my choice.

The earth is flat
(too flat!)
We need pits

for shoving enemies into
or creating more ulcers
as children whine

and mothers coo.
Pits, pits, pits.
(watch your footing!)

I fell into a pit
and now I'm stuck.
Stuck, stuck, stuck,

and you're not helping.
Call them all
but I'll never get out.

This pit is my home
and your truck my treasure.
Throw it down

and I'll dodge its
monstrous metal frame.
Stuck, stuck, stuck.

I miss you
but I'm in this pit (you see!)
and you're not running for a ladder.
The scent of your soul
Lingers on my hands.
I've had my head in
My palms for days.

Just breathing.
The world’s light shines, shine as it will,
The world will love its darkness still.
I doubt though when the world’s in hell,
It will not love its darkness half so well.

there will begin of my lips a certain impractical lewdness
and though ugly
it shall increase
and increase

till drowns it every other thing
and i shall name it

i shall call it

I want to kiss you
beneath a lamp light
on a crowded street
and ask you to stay.

Just for me.

But we are not made
for, or of,
celluloid and limelight.
We are

just fragile

flesh and bone.
I am glad to have let him go.  He is doing wonderful things with his life he could not have accomplished here.

It's a "thing" Not a relationship.
   That'd be too easy, right?

Too easy to just let me know how you feel.
To just double down, grab my hand and say "I like you."
That'd be way too easy.
So it's just a "thing"

A "thing" where we hang out every day.
And you grab lunch with me.
And we text when we're bored.
And you tell me I'm pretty.

A "thing" where I listen to your problems.
And you listen to mine.
And sometimes we kiss when we're drunk.
It's a "thing"

A "thing" you won't put a label on. Despite the fact that this "thing" suddenly has BOTH our friends asking what we're doing. Are we dating? Just friends? Why don't you take this one lover?

What is this "thing" we've got going on?

Do I tell them how my heart swells when you call me babe?
Do I tell them how you love the way I tease you?
Do I tell them how I wish you were mine?
Or do I tell them it's just a "thing?"
